Theodore Boone, a thirteen year old courtroom champion, is an engaging character. His abilities are well recognized by his school friends who routinely appeal to him for advice regarding their families' legal worries. I recommend these two titles for enjoyable reads.

New Reads
Mr. Sites recently gifted two of John Grisham's books to our library, Theodore Boone - kid lawyer, and Theodore Boone - the abduction. Grisham, a master of legal suspense, has authored 21 novels, mostly legal thrillers, one work of non fiction and one collection of stories. His books have been translated into 38 languages, an impressive indicator of their widespread appeal.

Dixon Welcomes Authors in November
Welcome to Panthers Pause, the Dixon Library Blog. We invite our Dixon Community, Panthers, Parents and Faculty to visit this site often for Library news.
In November we were pleased to host a number of authors at Dixon. As part of the Fall Fantasy Festival Mrs. Moody arranged for Jessica Day George, Obert Skye and Kristen Landon to come and visit with our students. In addition to speaking to a 7th grade assembly and an 8th grade assembly these authors attended a luncheon in the library with some of our aspiring writers and then presented writing workshops to smaller groups of students.
On November 12th, Provo City Library celebrated their annual Teen Book Fest 2011 and featured four guests, all authors of the currently popular dystopian novels. Three of those authors kindly agreed to visit the secondary schools in Provo on Friday the 11th. Dixon was pleased to have Elana Johnson, Robison Wells and once again, Kristin Landon come and speak with a group of our students in the library. We were also pleased to receive a copy of each of the authors' new books as a gift from Provo City Library: Possession by Elana Johnson, Variant by Robison Wells and The Limit by Kristen Landon. Students were able to question the authors about their writing careers and to satisfy their curiosity about various things related to the publishing industry.
Now, as we enter December, we invite all to look for some "magic" to take home for the holidays. When you find it, share it with someone you love: a brother, a sister, a grandma or grandpa, your mom or dad. What better way to create a magical season than to invite into your days special casts of characters from classics like A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens or Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson or, on a more contemporary stage, the Red Pyramid or The Lost Hero by Rick Riorden. Consider favorites like William Goldman's Princess Bride, or Kenneth Grahame's Wind in the Willows, Vivian Vande Veld's A Well-Timed Enchantment or Brian Jacques' Redwall; these all offer
fantasy to delight the heart and soul.
May your holiday season be filled with the joys that can be found in the magic of books. Warmest wishes to you all.
"The Bookshop has a thousand books,
All colors, hues, and tinges,
And every cover is a door
That turns on magic hinges."
